Pay for a plan on your Android phone
In our Android app, the Owner pays for a plan through Google Play, and switches or cancels it there.
On this page
One plan covers your whole household: everyone who shares your schedule.
Before you start: only the Owner, the one person in charge, can buy a plan. Google Play takes the payment from your Google Account.
Open the menu (☰), then tap Household. Scroll down to Plans.
To pay yearly, tick the box above the prices: I agree that a yearly plan renews automatically every year until I cancel.
The yearly price stays greyed out until you do.
Under the plan you want, tap its price for a month or for a year.
Google Play's window shows the price again. Confirm it there.
What you'll see
A note says the plan is yours. The line under your household's name says when it renews.
A plan renews by itself until you cancel. Google Play adds sales tax where the law requires it.
Switch plans
Under Plans, your own plan has a button to switch between monthly and yearly. Other plans have buttons too. The line above them says when it starts.
A bigger plan starts at once, and Google Play charges the difference for the rest of the time you paid for.
Monthly to yearly starts at once too. Google Play charges the year's price, and adds the days left of your month to the year.
A smaller plan, or yearly to monthly, starts when the time you paid for ends. You keep your plan until then.
A yearly switch needs the same tick. Only the phone signed in to the paying Google Account shows these buttons.
Cancel
On Household, under Plans, tap Manage in Google Play. Google Play's page opens.
Cancel there, or change how you pay.
You can also open the Play Store, tap your picture, then Payments and subscriptions. Only the Google Account that bought the plan can change it.
To stop the next charge, cancel before the plan renews. A cancelled plan stays until the end of the time you paid for. Then you're on the free plan, and nothing is deleted.
Google Play handles refunds. Our terms say how paying works.
New phone, or no plan?
Tap Restore purchases at the bottom of Plans. Google Play checks your Google Account, and your plan comes back.
Already paying on our website?
Then the Android app shows your plan, and you change it on our website, where promo codes work too.
Leaving or deleting
Deleting your account, or the household, cancels a plan bought through Google Play. Leaving the household, or giving it to someone, doesn't: Google Play keeps charging until it's cancelled. The app reminds you first.
