What Fits, Tight and Conflict mean

Every day gets one word that says whether one driver can make it all on time.

Every day gets one of three verdicts. Here’s a week.

Monday fits. Each event holds you from its arrive-by time until you’ve packed up and left. Take the drive out of the gap between them, and what’s left is your spare time. Here, an hour and 17 minutes. 45 minutes or more is Fits.

Wednesday is a Conflict. You’re at Maya’s practice until 6:55, packed up. But Leo’s game needs you at Veterans Field by 6:45. That’s an overlap. No drive can fix it.

Thursday is Tight: 19 minutes to spare, less than 45. It works, but a late finish or traffic could use that up.

Saturday is a Conflict too. This time, the drive doesn’t fit in the gap. The day says how short you are: 24 minutes.

Tight is your call. Change the threshold in Settings, and every day is checked again, right away.

At 15 minutes, Thursday fits.

Here, it goes back to 45.

The Conflicts tab keeps the days that need you.

We ask one question about every day of your season: can one person drive to everything on time? Each day gets one of three words:

  • Fits: at least 45 minutes to spare.
  • Tight: less than 45 minutes to spare.
  • Conflict: the drive doesn't fit, or two things overlap.
The Schedule’s week of October 12 to 18: Wednesday and Saturday marked Conflict, Thursday Tight, and the other days fitting, each event a block with its drive before it.
Every day gets a verdict.

Fits

Between each two things on the day, at least 45 minutes are left after the drive. Two things at the same place fit too, since there's no drive between them.

Tight

The drive fits, but with less than 45 minutes to spare, maybe none. A late finish or traffic could use up that time. Most Tight days need no fix.

One kind does: we can't check a drive to a place that isn't on the map yet. If nothing else is wrong, that day says Tight and Drive time unknown. Here's how to fix it.

You choose the number of minutes. Choose when a day is Tight shows how.

Saturday, October 24 on a phone: the drive from the tournament at Cedar Ridge to Ava’s hockey game is marked Tight, with only 35 minutes to spare.
Tight: some spare time, less than 45 minutes.

Conflict

You can't make both as planned. The line under the day says why. Most often it starts in one of two ways:

  • “Short by 24min”: the drive is longer than the gap. You'd get there 24 minutes after you need to be there.
  • “Overlap”: you'd need to be at the next place before you can leave this one.

Once you hand games to other people, there's one more kind. The day can need more cars than you have adults who sign in to drive them.

A day with a Conflict needs a decision. Fix a day that doesn't work shows your choices.

Saturday, October 17: after Ava’s hockey game, the 29-minute drive to Maya’s soccer game is marked Conflict, 24 minutes short of when she needs to be there.
Conflict: the drive doesn't fit the gap.
Wednesday, October 14 on a phone: an Overlap, since Maya’s soccer practice holds the car at Eastside Park until 6:55 PM, but Leo’s baseball game needs it at Veterans Field by 6:45 PM.
Conflict: you'd need to be there before you can leave here.

How we work it out

A game or practice takes up more time than its start and end. First there's Before a game, how early you need to be there. Then there's After, time to pack up and get to the car.

Between two places, we add the drive at the hour you'd be driving. Whatever is left over is your time to spare.

Any of these times can be changed. Change game length and how early to arrive shows how, and who can.

These words describe your schedule and our estimated drive times. You know your day best, so read what we can't promise.
