A drive time looks too long
It may be rounded up to keep a home's address private, or our map may differ from yours.
On this page
Our drive times can be longer than your maps app says. There are two reasons. Find the drive on the day's page, and see which one fits.
Why some drive times are rounded
Say Grandpa drives from his own home. The map says his drive to the rink takes 11 minutes, and that's what his phone shows.
Dana shares his schedule, but sees only the town he lives in. Her phone shows the same drive as 15 minutes: rounded up to the next 5. So on her phone, his time to leave is 4 minutes earlier.
Exact times from one home to a dozen rinks would give away which street it's on. Rounded, they give only a rough idea of where it is. Rounding only moves a time to leave earlier, never later.
Who sees exact times
You always see exact drive times from your own home. The Owner (the one person in charge) sees exact times from your Home base (your shared home address). So does anyone the Owner has confirmed lives there.
It's a drive from someone else's home
What you see
The drive starts or ends at a home that isn't yours. Its time looks a little long, even when you check the traffic.
Why it happens
It's rounded up by less than 5 minutes, to keep that home's address private. That's the rounding, not the map.
What to do
Nothing to fix. Rounding only moves that car's time to leave earlier, never later.
Is it your Home base, and you live there? Ask the Owner to confirm you live there.
Your own drive is longer than your maps app says
What you see
The drive starts at your own home, or at a rink, field or court. It's still a few minutes longer than your maps app says.
Why it happens
Our drive times come from Azure Maps, not Google or Apple, so they can differ a little. Before the day, a drive shows the traffic that is usual at that hour.
What to do
On the day, check the traffic before you leave: tap Check traffic under the drive. It shows the traffic right now.
Your time to leave also counts how early you need to be there. See how we work out when to leave.
